President's Letter: Promoting The League

From Karen Sheek, LWVCO Board President...

Greetings League Members,

At the October Board Meeting, members were encouraged to create an elevator speech so we would be prepared to promote the League should the opportunity present itself.

This month, Beth asked that we think about all the people in our various circles of family, friends, and colleagues, and create lists with a plan to promote the League by...
  • Extending an invitation to a League event
  • Offering to make a presentation about the League's mission or activities
  • Encouraging a donation to the League
  • Sharing information about a League activity that would align with a personal interest or passion of a specific individual
I challenge Local Leagues to encourage their members to do the same!

LWVUS Monthly League Community Call

Join LWVUS on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 3:00 p.m. for their monthly nationwide community call. The League hosts this call as a designated space where members can create and build their connections among state and local Leagues across the country. At the same time, you can participate in discussions and learn about the issues that are active priorities for our organization.

This month's meeting will feature a voter education manager from the Wisconsin League and a community organizer from the New Jersey League. With midterms on the way, the discussion will focus on how to prepare for these pivotal elections, from educational strategies to leadership development.

Online registration has closed, but please contact organizing@lwv.org for more information if you would still like to attend.

Colorado Gives Day Is Coming

Colorado Gives Day is Tuesday, Dec. 7Set up your gift to LWVCO now and it will process automatically on CGD.

This is a special opportunity to donate because every gift you make (in advance or day-of) helps LWVCO unlock a portion of the $1.6 million incentive fund. For example, if we were to raise 1% of the total amount raised on CGD, we would receive an additional 1% of that $1.6 million!

Thank you for supporting our mission of educating and empowering voters statewide! Want to have an even greater impact? Consider setting up a monthly donation to LWVCO through Colorado Gives!

The program begins with a tour of the school at 10:15 a.m. followed by a town hall and the mural dedication and ribbon cutting.

The mural was announced last year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. Donations are welcomed to support this special project.
