General Resources

Colorado Gives Day Donations

THANK YOU for your gifts during Colorado Gives Day! In just 24 hours, we raised $12,769.43 to support voter education and empowerment throughout the state. Please see our website for a list that acknowledges all of these generous donors.

Did you miss this special opportunity to give? Consider setting up a recurring monthly donation through Colorado Gives and easily contribute to our work year-round!

The legal battle over reproductive health has been making headlines, and safeguarding these rights is an important part of the League's positions. Here are some actions that LWV has taken across the country to protect these choices for women everywhere. Looking for a way to support LWVCO's advocacy at the state level? We know this issue will be a focal point of the upcoming legislative session, so we are proactively building a group of supporters to form a Reproductive Rights Task Force. Sign up now to be contacted with more details as they become available!

Senator Bob Dole, 98, died on Sunday, Dec. 5. In a statement, LWVUS Board President Dr. Deborah Turner acknowledged Dole's partnership in reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act in 1982. Did you know that the League of Women Voters also hosted the first-ever vice-presidential debate (which featured Dole as a candidate) in 1976?

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and a new variant emerges, remember that state and local health agencies are following their legally imbued statutory powers to protect public health. The Office of Legislative Legal Services has produced a helpful summary to explain these processes.

Join our fellow League members from LWV Washington for a new virtual program! "Cultivating Civic Conversations: About The State Of Our Democracy" is a 10-week series that will take place every Thursday starting on January 6. Learn more about the topics and resources and sign up today!

Around The State

LWV Museum Exhibit Continues In Greeley

Members of LWV Greeley-Weld County collaborated with Holly Berg, Curator of Exhibits, and the staff at the Greeley History Museum for an exhibit that recognizes LWV's 100th anniversary and the local League's 75th anniversary. These members wrote the story for the exhibit as well as designed and set up the displays.

Over the past year, the local League combed through stacks of documents, did research on early League leaders and sorted through a collection of memorabilia from over the years to put on display. The LWV team for this museum project was Julie Wittow, Carol Jeontilla, Kathleen Milligan, Ruthie Rockwell and Barb Whinery.

The exhibit is entitled “Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy,” the LWV mission statement. It will be open through April 16. The Greeley History Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors.

Listen to an interview about the exhibit! Holly Berg appeared on Colorado Edition on KUNC, which is northern Colorado's affiliate station for NPR.

Donor Recognition

We could not perform the vital work of empowering voters and defending democracy without the generous contributions of our members and the public. Please visit our website for a list of our most recent donors. Thank you all for your support!
