Leader of Democracy @ Wellshire Event Center
Jun 6 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Honoring Coloradans Who Create a More Perfect Democracy!

Plan to attend this celebration as the League of Women Voters of Colorado (LWVCO) presents their 2019 Leader of Democracy Awards. These annual honors are given to a Colorado leader, a nonprofit, and a student project that exemplify the League’s mission of empowering voters and defending democracy. This year’s honorees are:

WAYNE WILLIAMS, CO Secretary of State 2015-2019

During his tenure, Secretary Williams implemented the nation’s strongest cybersecurity measures in Colorado’s elections systems, leading to the Washington Post declaring our state “the safest place to vote.”

The bipartisan coalition that led the successful campaign for Amendments Y & Z, which create independent commissions to approve redistricting maps, eliminating partisan gerrymandering in our state.

NATIONAL HISTORY DAY Student Project Leader and CELESTE ARCHER, Director

LWVCO sponsors a special prize for a student with a National History Day Colorado (NHDC) project on an amendment to the US Constitution. We’ll celebrate the winner of the League’s NHDC prize, as well as the director of this valuable program, Celeste Archer.

Dottie Lamm is this year’s Honorary Chair and will be emceeing the evening!

EVENT tickets are on sale now until Saturday, May 25th at

PATRON tickets are available for those wishing to strengthen their support as this one ticket offers the League a larger gift.

DEFEND DEMOCRACY donations are open until June 7th for those unable to attend or wish to increase their support beyond their ticket purchase.

At this celebration, there will be a cash bar with heavy hors d’oeuvres.

Thank you for your support.

Please reach out to the League office with any questions about this event.
